Braid

Just the other day, I got a little game from on online friend because it was on sale on steam.
That gift was braid, and I'm here to tell you to get it, even if you hear me after the sale.

It has made me cry aloud at the genius of the puzzles contained within the beautiful little indie gem. It honestly has to be played to be seen, everything just flows together.

The main draw of the game is the fact that you can manipulate time in many different ways, the most basic way and the one that can be used at any time unlimited is the power to rewind time. Which means that you can not die and stay dead without giving up, you just rewind back before your death

The game takes place in 6 different worlds, with a house being the hub, the first worl-- wait, I really want to tell you guys, but I'll have to just try to tell you the basics without spoiling things. In most the the worlds, there is something different about time in that world that makes the unique puzzles in each world. For example, in one world you can put down a ring that slows down time in and around it's area of effect, in another, when you move the the right, things go forward in time, when you move to the left, things go backward, and standing stil renders everything motionless.

And oh; the puzzles are brilliant! Most every one is based on times flow, and most the those are based on the unique worlds! There's not a single re-hashed puzzle!

The music is a fitting orchestrated soundtrack that melds together with the game. Something I found neat about it was that the music plays in reverse when you rewind, or slows down when you fast forward.

The four layered back ground and paintesque graphics make for a very nice looking game, it also helps set the mood.

Storywise, there's a lot of simblism in the game, and basically all of what they call the story is able to be read in books before each world. It's rather confusing, actually. But again, it just helps make the game awesome.

There's one more big point that I must say, the last the level--not unlike what another reviewer said-- is INCREDIBLE. It left me saying aloud things like brilliant and then trying to tell my family how much I loved it.

All I can say is, sale or no sale, get it now, and if your still in doubt, try the demo, and remember that's only a fraction of the game.
